Park Pics: Turf Skyline
What a beautiful day to kick off our (semi-) regular Park Pics feature. I got to spend a couple of minutes soakin’ up the rays on the AstroTurf today. You should have been there! I had the entire place to myself.
When you do make it out please make sure to snap some pics or shoot some video. It doesn’t matter if you take them on your phone, a point-and-shoot or a fancy camera…just make sure to post them on Flickr and tag them with ‘Bushwick Inlet’ or ‘Bushwick Inlet Park’. They might end up right here.
Whats Up at the Motiva Lot?
What’s up at the Motiva Lot? Inquring minds want to know. After the volunteers at NYC Community Cleanup worked tirelessly last week to pick up trash and other debris from the regularly neglected strip of public sidewalk adjacent to the chain link enclosed lot, the land behind the fence got something of a makeover of its own yesterday. By the looks of it, Paul Bunyan stopped by and swung his axe 50 times or so, downing only the littlest trees. Although that may sound like bad news, it does mean passersby can get a better view of the inlet now.
Bushwick Inlet Public Sidewalk Gets NYC Community Cleanup
The typically trashed stretch of public sidewalk adjacent to the Bushwick Inlet got some loving care today thanks to the efforts of NYC Community Cleanup.
NYC Community Clean Up is a new citywide initiative designed to address neighborhood eyesores using the manpower of low level offenders (those arrested for minor offenses like vandalism, shoplifting and public drunkeness). They offer their services to community non-profits – like Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park – for free.

After nine years of litigation, it ends with more of a whimper than a bang.

A Really Fun Funraiser @ The Diamond
A great time was had by all at the Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park/Neighbors Allied for Good Growth Funraiser at The Diamond on Saturday, May 8th. The Hop Sun beer (Pink Lemonade for the kids!) and Bratwurst/Veggie Bratwurst hot off the grill provided the perfect reason for the community to gather in support of greening the strip of public trees that front Bushwick Inlet.
