This Wednesday, March 17th there are two reasons to dress up in green. The first reason is obvious – it’s St. Paddy’s Day. The second reason? Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park is meeting with our new City Councilman, Stephen Levin, to advocate for our park.

A little background on Stephen – he grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey and came to Brooklyn to work as a community organizer after graduating from Brown University. He ran a Lead Safe House program and an anti-predatory lending program, both based in Bushwick, before becoming Chief of Staff to State Assemblyman Vito Lopez in 2006. This past November, he was elected to represent the 33rd District of Brooklyn which covers Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Park Slope, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights and Boerum Hill. He’s been a tremendous advocate for affordable housing and we hope that makes him an advocate for parks and open space too.

If you’d like to join our visit with Stephen Levin to advocate for our 28 acre waterfront park, please email us at info@buchwickinletpark.org no later than Tuesday, March 16th for further details.

And if you do join us on Wednesday, don’t forget to wear your green!
